Mornington trainer David Brideoake has once again demonstrated his skill as a breeder with the win of Target In Sight in Saturday’s $1 million Myer Magic Millions Sprint (1200m) on the Gold Coast.

The Joe Pride trained seven year old son of Nadeem added the big prize to his CV which already included wins in a Group 3 race and a Listed Race.

Target In Sight was sold as a yearling on the Gold Coast in 2011 to Champion Thoroughbreds for $80,000 – a great investment with his total prizemoney now exceeding $1.1 million!

“A lot of work has gone into getting this horse back to the track and it’s a fantastic team effort,” Pride said.

“He had heart arrhythmia and a bleeding attack at his last run but I’ve given him a long, steady build-up to this race and he’s done the job.

“He’s in the twilight of his career and has won the biggest race of his life so it’s incredibly satisfying.”

Target In Sight’s breeder David Brideoake achieved his greatest breeding success when training homebred Griante to a win in the Galaxy Stakes last year, but it certainly wasn’t a flash in the pan.

Over the years Brideoake has bred a string of other top quality gallopers including stakes winners Shylight, Self Sense and Thames Court, City Winners Our Harmony, Biancon Rose, Jugahlation and many more.

In 2014 Brideoake and his family expanded their operations to a new breeding property.

Known as Roycevale, the farm is located in North East Victoria at Violet Town. It is being managed by David’s son Tom (who previously worked in the Peter Moody stable).

Roycevale is home to a number of high class broodmares including group 1 winner Griante.

Target In Sight is the first foal of the Xaar mare Xaaranthe a mulitple winner in Melbourne and a half-sister to Listed winner Strinmaster.

Xaaranthe foaled a Written Tycoon filly for the Brideoake operation last year and was then mated to Choisir.
